Affinisea to stand at Whytemount Stud
He becomes the first son of Sea The Stars to be recruited for covering National Hunt mares
Affinisea, a winning three-parts brother to Irish Derby hero and this year's busiest sire Soldier Of Fortune, has been snapped up by Ronnie O'Neill to stand at his Whytemount Stud in County Kilkenny.
The five-year-old is the first son of Sea The Stars to be recruited for covering National Hunt mares. Sea The Stars himself has sired useful jumpers Starchitect and Stars Over The Sea.
Affinisea hit the headlines early in life when he sold for a then-record €850,000 to Sunderland Holdings at the 2011 Goffs November Foal Sale.
Sent to John Oxx, he ran only twice in an injury-blighted career, winning a 1m4f Roscommon maiden by five lengths last year and finishing a head second to Hidden Cyclone over 1m6f at Killarney in July.
"He's a gorgeous, big horse with a great step and when breeders see him they won't be disappointed," said O'Neill.
Affinisea will stand alongside Salutino and Valirann with his fee on application.
