TIGER WOODS is no better than 2-1 to win this week's HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai after a hosts of star names decided to opt out of the newly rebranded event.

Now under the World Golf Championship banner the Shanghai event has thus far eluded the world No. 1, but with the likes of Angel Cabrera, Vijay Singh and Jim Fuyrk deciding against a trip to China, he is as short as 6-4 in a place.

Chief opposition for the great man will come from usual suspects Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington, the world numbers two and six 13-1 and 18-1 respectively.

Recent winners Ross Fisher and Ian Poulter are also in the field and are 33-1 and 35-1 respectively while Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy and 2008 winner Sergio Garcia are also prominent in the betting.

The home challenge will be spearheaded by US PGA champion Y E Yang.

The South Korean was a winner here in 2006 and will start no better than 66-1.

Jeremy Chapman's pre-touranment preview will be available in Wednesday's Racing Post with updates online throughout the tournament
