Well-backed Reds hammer FA Cup conquerors

LIVERPOOL were backed from 6-4 to 11-10 to see off their FA Cup final conquerors Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday night and the Reds landed the gamble in style with a 4-1 victory.

Michael Essien's own-goal opened the floodgates before Jordan Henderson, who will be paid out as first goalscorer at a best-priced 20-1, and Daniel Agger put the home side 3-0 up inside half an hour at Anfield.

Stewart Downing missed a penalty at the end of the first half and Ramires pulled a goal back just after the break but Jonjo Shelvey restored the three-goal cushion.

The defeat endsChelsea's challenge for a top-four finish although the Blues can still qualify for next season's Champions League by winning this term's final against Bayern Munich on May 19.
