On-a-roll Hendry 17-2 to claim eighth world crown
STEPHEN HENDRY was available at 17-2 with the sponsors to win the Betfred.com World Championship on Saturday night after he destroyed John Higgins 13-4 in their second-round match.
The seven-time champ has rolled back the years in his first two victories and now meets another fellow Scot, Stephen Maguire, in the quarter-finals.
Hendry, who was a 100-1 shot ante-post, has come alive at the Sheffield venue he loves so much and now has a realistic chance to once again be crowned Crucible king.
Maguire is 11-2 for a first world crown after beating Joe Perry 13-7 but he will need to raise his game to beat Hendry.
Ronnie O’Sullivan leads 5-3 against Mark Williams after Saturday’s first session.
