Villas-Boas 15-8 to grab a second chance at Spurs

ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS was a big mover in the next Tottenham manager market on Friday and the former Chelsea boss was an
15-8 favourite to get the job in the evening.

The 6-1 about the Portuguese succeeding Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane disappeared in the morning and he was as short as even-money for the Spurs job with BetVictor.

Early favourite David Moyes drifted to 9-2, just ahead of Wigan’s Roberto Martinez at 5-1. Hills trimmed Jurgen Klinsmann from 12-1 to 8-1 and cut Martin Jol from 33-1 into 12-1 although the Fulham boss was still available at 50-1 elsewhere.

Michael Laudrup was confirmed as the new manager of Swansea on Ftiday and bet365 make the Dane 9-2 to guide his new club to a top-half finish next season.

Hills offer 6-1 that the Swans repeat last season’s 11th-placed finish but it is 4-11 that they end up 12th or lower in the table.

Ladbrokes go 1-2 that Laudrup is still Swansea manager on the last day of the season and he is 7-4 to sign a Danish player by the time the summer transfer window closes.

Laudrup replaces Brendan Rodgers, who left Swansea for Liverpool earlier this summer, and bet365 are betting on how many points Swansea win against the Reds next season. It is 7-4 that they lose both games against Liverpool and 33-1 that they do the double over them.

The appointment of Laudrup, who has coached Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Mallorca, had been anticipated by a few bet365 customers.

The firm’s spokesman Steve Freeth said: “There was a few quid around for Laudrup at 20-1 and it’s a market we’ve lost on despite the early money for Graeme Jones at short prices.”

Swansea are 25-1 with bet365 to win a major trophy next term and 2-1 to be relegated.

Ally McCoist will remain as Rangers manager after meeting with the SPL club’s new chief executive Charles Green.

Tito Vilanova was officially introduced as Barcelona’s new manager on Friday, having signed a two-year contract at Camp Nou.

Asked about Barca’s summer transfer targets, Vilanova said: “We are interested in a left-back and a centre-back. We don’t have plans to bring in anyone up front.”
