Van Persie hot favourite for PFA award

ROBIN VAN PERSIE is 1-10 with Hills to win the PFA Player of the Year award after the six-man shortlist was revealed.

The Arsenal striker is the red-hot favourite after carrying the Gunners through their mid-season crisis to the brink of a spot in the Champions League, while van Persie should also claim the Premier League Golden Boot after a stunning individual campaign.

David Silva, one-time favourite for the honour, is next in the list at 7-1 although his untimely dip has not done his chances any good with Manchester City throwing away their advantage at the summit.

Silva’s team-mate Sergio Aguero is 14-1 and another Citizen, Joe Hart, can be backed at 14-1 and Wayne Rooney is a 10-1 shot with Scott Parker the rank outsider at 33-1.

Last season’s winner – Gareth Bale – heads the market for the PFA Young Player of the Year award at 4-7 with Aguero the potential value at 5-4 following a tremendous first season in England which has seen him rack up 21 Premier League goals.

Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck are both 14-1 with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlainand Kyle Walker at 33-1.

Both winners will be announced on Sunday.
