Uruguay draw will book GB a last-eight berth
STUART PEARCE’S Great Britain team must avoid defeat against Uruguay in Wednesday night’s final Group A match to reach the knockout stages of the Olympic tournament.
The South Americans, World Cup semi-finalists in 2010, are 9-5 shots for victory and even a draw may not be enough for them after a 2-0 defeat to group leaders Senegal, who take on the UAE.
Uruguay were 7-1 third favourites for the gold medal – behind Brazil and now-eliminated Spain – but are out to 12-1 while Team GB are second favourites at 9-1.
Bet365 have priced up a goals match bet between Liverpool teammates Craig Bellamy and Luis Suarez. The tie is an 8-13 favourite, with Suarez at 3-1 and Bellamy at 7-2.
Bet Victor have chopped Aston Villa to 4-1 from 20-1 in their betting on which club another Reds striker - Andy Carroll - will sign for in the summer transfer window. West Ham are now 4-5 favourites (from 4-7) with Carroll's former outfit Newcastle at 9-4 (from 7-4).
The firm also now go 11-8 about Liverpool defender Daniel Agger joining Manchester City in the summer transfer window (from 3-1). Barcelona, at 3-1, and Real Madrid, at 6-1, are next in the list.
