Stoner 4-6 for MotoGP title after Estoril success

CASEY STONER was cut from 11-10 to 4-6 by BetVictor to retain his MotoGP riders title after taking his secondvictory in as many weeks in Sunday’s Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril.

As had been the case at Jerez  the previous Sunday Stoner was shadowed throughout the race by Jorge Lorenzo but despite reducing Stoner’s considerable early lead to just half a second at one stage, Yamaha rider Lorenzo claimed it was impossible to overtake the Honda.

The result saw Stoner, who had been 13-8 favourite to win the race from pole, take a one-point lead in the championship standings over Lorenzo, who was a 5-2 chance.

The next race - the fourth of 18 in the season - is at Le Mans in France in two weeks.

Lorenzo, the 2010 king who won in France and was second to Stoner at both Estoril and Jerez, is now a general 2-1 for the riders title while the currently third-placed Dani Pedrosa can be backed at 9-1 with Hills and Ladbrokes.

It is 125-1 bar these three.
