Robson 4-9 to claim first WTA title in Guangzhou
LAURA ROBSON is a general 4-9 shot to secure her maiden senior title after easing past Sorana Cirstea in the semi-finals of the Guangzhou International Open on Friday.
The 6-4 6-2 victory for the 18-year-old means she is the first British woman to reach a WTA singles tour final for 22-years and she is 11-10 to win the final in straight sets too. A three-set Robson success is 3-1 .
The British No. 1 is clearly in great spirits after an excellent summer. It all began with an Olympic silver medal in the mixed doubles before reaching the fourth round of the US Open.
Robson's opponent in the final will be Su-Wei Hsieh, who came through her semi-final in three sets against the fourth seed Urszula Radwanska and is 2-1 to win the title.
