Rio and Terry 7-2 to be paired against France

ROY HODGSON is not certain to take experienced defenders John Terry and Rio Ferdinand to Euro 2012 but bookmakers rate the duo favourites to start together at centre-back when England begin their campaign against France next month.

It’s a wide-open betting heat but Terry and Ferdinand are 7-2 with BetVictor to get the nod from Hodgson despite the duo reportedly being far from best friends.

An all-Chelsea combination of Terry and Gary Cahill is 9-2 with Coral, who cut the Rio Ferdinand/Joleon Lescott (5-1 from 16-1) and Ferdinand/Phil Jones (12-1 from 50-1) partnership on Thursday.

Another popular move on Thursday was for goalkeeper David Stockdale to be on the plane to Poland and Ukraine with bet365 cutting him from 11-4 to 11-8.

Hodgson will know all about the Fulham reserve stopper, although Rob Green and Ben Foster are ahead of him in the betting at 4-11 and 10-11 with No. 1 Joe Hart a certainty.

Ashley Cole is long odds-on to secure the left-back spot at just 1-8 but there is more choice available onthe opposite flank where bookmakers believe Kyle Walker is set to get the call.

BetVictor rate the Tottenham youngster 4-5 to start against France with Glen Johnson at 9-4. Hodgson and Johnson did not have a great rapport during their time together at Liverpool, while Micah Richards is available at 9-2 after losing his starting spot at Manchester City.
