Knee surgery likely to rule Puyol out of Euros

BARCELONA captain Carles Puyol - continental and world champions Spain's senior central defender - is likely to missthe Euro 2012 after the Catalan club giants confirmed on Tuesday that he is to undergo knee surgery.

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque announces his preliminary squad a week on Wednesday (May 16) before confirming his party for Poland and Ukraine on May 27 and Puyol, who played the full 90 minutes of last Saturday's 4-0 La Liga home derby win over Espanyol, definitely misses Barca's final league game at Real Betis this Saturday and the Copa Del Rey final on Thursday May 24 against Athletic Bilbao after deciding to undergo an arthroscopy. The recuperation period is expected to be six weeks.

BetVictor have eased La Roja to the generally-available 5-2 and cut Germany to 3-1, clipped Portugal to 20-1 from a previously standout 22-1 and chopped Sweden to 50-1.

Coral and Paddy Power are still 7-2 Germany while Sweden are still 80-1 with Blue Square (with plenty off 66-1 available).
