Power creates fireworks on opening night

PHIL TAYLOR failed to get his Premier League campaign off to a winning start but still did enough to wow punters and bookmakers alike.

The Power stormed back from 6-1 down at the Manchester Arena to snatch a thrilling 7-7 draw against world champion Adrian Lewis, and both men’s odds tumbled as a result.

Taylor, who Hills were laying at 2-1 hours before the start of the competition, is now best-priced 7-4 with Ladbrokes while Lewis is in a point to 7-2.

The big loser on the opening night was reigning champion Gary Anderson who was shunted out to 6-1 from 9-2 following an 8-6 defeat at the hands of debutant Kevin Painter.

James Wade also suffered at the hands of a newcomer – he lost 8-5 to Andy Hamilton – and is out to 10-1 from 15-2.
