Co-hosts Poland 50-1 for glory after Greece draw
POLAND are 50-1 with BetVictor and Boylesports to win the European Championship after the joint-hosts blew a golden opportunity to make a winning start to the competition at the National Stadium after a 1-1 draw with Greece.
Robert Lewandowski's opening goal of the tournament combined with a harsh first-half red card to Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos saw Poland go long odds-on in-play before substitute Dimitris Salpigidis equalised.
And it could have been even worse for the home side but Giorgos Karagounis' penalty was saved in an incident which earlier saw goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny sent off.
It was a bad start for favourite backers in the match market but Lewandowski was popular to score first at 5-1 and his army of Golden Boot backers got off to a flyer with Blue Square making the well-backed Polish forward 12-1 to take the top scorer honours.
The Borussia Dortmund striker is 5-2 with Ladbrokes to sign for Manchester United this summer.
The game was full of action and referee Carlos Velasco Carballo was at the heart of most of it.
He clearly got the Szczesny decision correct but he was heavily criticised for dismissing Papastathopoulos.
Hills go 16-1 from 12-1 that the Spanish arbiter to officiates the final.
