Dominant Pakistan 8-1 to inflict 3-0 whitewash

ENGLAND captain Andrew Strauss said in his post-match interview that it was too soon to panic after his top-ranked Test side lost their first five-dayer in 13 months at Dubai’s International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

But bet365 have shoved the Three Lions out to 7-1 to win the three-Test series with Pakistan in the UAE after they were beaten by ten wickets inside three days. Only a Pakistan 3-0 whitewash at 8-1 is bigger in the correct-score market.

With less than a week to learn how to bat for long periods against Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal in particular, England are just 14-1 to suffer another three-day demise in Abu Dhabi.

Ajmal took seven wickets as England were dismissed for 192 in their first innings and three more when they were skittled for 160 in their second effort. In between Pakistan, now 8-15 for the series from 11-4, made 338.

Bookmakers were pleased by Pakistan’s easy first Test win.

Coral and Hills reported solid support for England before the off (7-4) and after they had seemingly checked the progress of Misbah-ul-Haq’s men on day two. Ladbrokes said they laid plenty of wagers on the draw in Dubai.

It will be interesting if Ladbrokes take a similar stance to the action in Abu Dhabi from Wednesday.

Both previous Tests at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium have finished as high-scoring stalemates (three double tons) and it is the favoured result in the early prices at 6-4. England are 11-5 to bounce back. Pakistan are 9-4 to go 2-0 up.
