Murray closing on Button in award betting

JENSON BUTTON's low key showing at the British Grand Prix, coupled with growing confidence in Andy Murray's ability to win a first Major title at Wimbledon has seen the Brawn driver drift in betting for this year's Sports Personality of the Year.

The Scot is as short as 7-4 to pick up the grass court crown after winning last week's warm-up event at Queen's and if he does so he will leap to the head of the awards betting.

Coral began Sunday with Button at 8-11 and Murray a 3-1 shot, but after Sebastien Vettel stole the Brawn man's thunder at Silverstone the firm now go 6-5 Button, 7-4 Murray.

Murray's media profile will go through the roof over the next fortnight and with the Scot now presenting a far more positive persona he is sure to win plenty of new fans among occasional tennis watchers.

The Scot willalso be a massive runner at the US Open and with the ATP finale being played this year at the O2 he will remain very much in the public eye when the votes are being cast.
