Murray 1-2 to end Ferrer fun at quarter-final stage

ANDY MURRAY, who replaced Roger Federer as second favourite for Wimbledon on Tuesday, is 1-2 with Boylesports to reach the last four with a victory over quarter-final opponent David Ferrer on Wednesday.

The Scot blitzed Marin Cilic 7-5 6-2 6-3 yesterday and bookmakers expect him to march on against the Spanish No. 2 Ferrer, winner of the grass-court prep event in Den Bosch in the week before Wimbledon.

Betfred also opened 1-2 Murray but their quote didn’t last long and quickly shortened to 4-9.

Murray, 5-1 with Boylesports to win the title on Sunday and break his Grand Slam duck, is 11-5 to see off world No. 6 Ferrer in straight sets.

Novak Djokovic, who will play Florian Mayer with a semi-final berth at stake, is 8-13 to keep hold of his singles crown, while Federer has been eased to 11-2 after experiencing back trouble.
