Poole can keep up perfect start to season at Wolves

POOLE PIRATES can maintain their unbeaten start to the season by beating Wolverhampton Wolves by more than two points at Monmore Green tonight.

The two clubs have already met this season here in an Elite League Shield encounter when the Pirates emerged victorious 46-44 but, if anything, Poole look a stronger proposition.

Ludvig Lindgren, who rode for Wolverhampton last season and was not involved in that match, could be a trump card for Poole at reserve while Chris Holder is sure to be full of confidence following his excellent European Grand Prix success in Poland on Saturday night.

Holder and felly Aussie Darcy Ward are a formidable combination and it will be difficult for Freddie Lindgren and Tai Woffinden to hold them at bay in the latter stages, particularly as Lindgren is not fully fit at present.

Before last week this would have looked an easier task for the Pirates as Wolverhampton looked to be carrying a couple of passengers in their side.

However, both Lukas Sowka and Pontus Aspegren were paid for wins in Wolverhampton’s 51-41 success over King’s Lynn last Monday and that should help their confidence.

King’s Lynn looked to have a long tail on that occasion though and there will be lesseasy pickings tonight.

Ricky Kling showed his liking for this track when scoring ten points here in that Elite Shield match while it is likely that Adrian Miedzinski will score more than the paid four he got on that occasion.

If Wolverhampton are to emerge triumphant, they will need big performances from Ty Proctor and Nicolai Klindt in the engine room of the team while Ricky Wells, who helped Poole to the title last season, will need to score double figure points,as he did last week.

Recommendation

Poole -2, 1pt 11-10 Blue Square
