In-form Lawrie storms to success in Qatar Masters
PAUL LAWRIE shot a stunning final-round 65 to win the Qatar Masters and maintain his fine form on Sunday.
Lawrie, Open champion at Carnoustie in 1999, had been 50-1 for victory ante-post and was recommended at 100-30 heading into the final round by golf guru Steve Palmer on RPSPORT’s online tipping service Golfwise Extra.
Lawrie is set to move into the top 50 in the world after managing three consecutive top-ten finishes.
Jason Day and Peter Hanson (both 33-1 in the pre-tournament betting) finished joint runners-up in the Doha tournament, which was reduced to 54 holes following strong winds on
Friday.
