Henderson 8-1 to start in England Euros opener

ENGLAND midfielder Frank Lampard was ruled out of the Euro 2012 finals on Thursday night following a scan on a thigh injury picked up in training.

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson replaces Lampard in the squad and is 8-1 with bet365 to start against France in the Three Lions' Group D opener on June 11 in Donetsk.

Manager Roy Hodgson said doctors could not guarantee the Chelsea ace would be fit for any of the group games.

"It's a huge blow for the team, especially coming after the loss of another senior player in Gareth Barry," said Hodgson.
