Goal-line technology 2-1 for 2013 Premier debut

CORAL go 2-1 that goal-line technology will be introduced at the beginning of the 2013-14 Premier League season after Monday's controversial events at Goodison Park.

The referee’s assistant was seemingly in a great position to see the incident but didn't allow Victor Anichebe’s legitimate effort to stand against Newcastle with the teams eventually sharing a dramatic 2-2 draw. Replays confirmed the whole ball clearly crossed the line, but the officials failed to award the goal.

Newcastle's 90th-minute equaliser denied Everton three points and in-turn reopened the goal-line technology debate. With two successfully tested systems ready in the wake calls have been made to introduce either system sooner rather than later.

Hawk-Eye and GoalRef are the systems in question but licensing issues means it is unlikely we will see the technology introduced before next season.
