Giants have the edge for
showdown with Dallas
THERE is officially one week left in the NFL regular season, but forthe New York Giants and Dallas the sudden-death action starts a week early with their winner-takes-all derby for the
final NFC play-off berth on Sunday night.
Green Bay, San Francisco, New Orleans, Detroit and Atlanta are all confirmed runners in what looks a red-hot NFC fight, with the last spot going to whoever wins the regular-season finale in the Big Apple.
The Giants were made early three-point favourites but that price could change a great deal depending on the status of
Dallas quarterback Tony Romo, who sat out most of Saturday’s
20-7 home defeat to Philadelphia with an injured hand.
In the AFC, five teams are still fighting for the final two spots with Denver early three-point home favourites for their game against Kansas City that could secure them the AFC West title, with Oakland (home to eliminated San Diego) the only team who can deny them.
Cincinnati are in pole position for the final AFC wild-card going into theirtough home game against Baltimore, who are still fighting for their seeding.
Green Bay are the 13-8 Super Bowl favourites.
