Gerrard odds-on to lead England at Euro 2012

STEVEN GERRARD is odds-on to regain the England captaincy after the Football Association announced he would not skipper the team until the allegations of an aggravated public order offence were resolved.

Terry has pleaded not guilty to the allegations but the case will not be heard until after the European Championship and Gerrard is in poleposition to lead the country this summer.

Gerrard is 3-4 with BetVictor to replace Terry and the Liverpool man is odds-on across the board for the gig against France in England's opening match at Euro 2012 with the rest of the market in as much chaos as Fabio Capello's plans.

Frank Lampard ranges from as low as 5-1 and best at a whopping 20-1 with Ladbrokes, while Scott Parker ranges from 3-1 to 8-1 with Gareth Barry (9-1) and Rio Ferdinand (12-1) also seen asin contention for the armband.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart, one of the few men who can claim to be a nailed-on first choice selection, is 16-1 with Hills to wear the armband and Ladbrokes rate Ashley Cole 33-1.
