Euro quartet will trigger refund with Open victory

WITH less than two weeks to go before the Open at Royal Lytham, BetVictor have announced they will be refunding losing stakes to a maximum of £50 if one of Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter or Sergio Garcia gets their hands on the Claret Jug.

None of the quartet has won a Major and Westwood is the strongest fancy to put that right on the Lancashire coast.

He is 14-1 for outright glory in the third Major of the year and he continued his preparations with a one-under-par 71 in the opening round at the French Open in Paris on Thursday. Poulter was a further shot behind.

Swede Christian Nilsson set the early pace with a 65 while Gary Boyd, Matteo Manassero and Thongchai Jaidee go into the second round one shot behind.

In America, Tiger Woods’ attempt to capture successive PGA Tour titles did not get off the best of starts at the Greenbrier Classic as the former world

No. 1 carded a one-over-par 71 which included a double bogey on the par-five 17th at the Old White Course in West Virginia.

Veteran Vijay Singh showed the way as he carded a seven-under par 63 which included eight birdies.
