England eased to 12-1 for summer glory under Roy
BOYLESPORTS have shoved England out to 12-1 for Euro 2012 glory in the immediate aftermath of Roy Hodgson's confirmation as Three Lions manager on Tuesday afternoon.
The firm, who had been 9-1 in the morning, are also biggest about England winning Group D at 9-5 and among the layers offering 1-2 about the Three Lions qualifying from the section.
No other bookmakers has been quite so clear over their thoughts on success - immediate or long-term - but Coral and Ladbrokes are at odds over whether or not Hodgson will see out the four-year contract.
Ladbrokes go 2-9 that Hodgson stays at the Three Lions helm for the full term and 3-1 that he does not.
While Coral are 6-4 against the original contract-length being completed even though they make Hodgson 4-9 to be in charge of England at the start of 2014 World Cup (13-8 not to be).
Hills have chalked up a market on the year Hodgson leaves the England manager. The favourite is 2016 at 5-2 with 2014 at 11-4 and 2017 at 7-2 or later. A 2015 departure is 5-1 and a 2013 exit is 11-2. Failure to see out the year is 14-1.
Bet365 go 13-8 that Hodgson's first win in Poland and Ukraine this summer comes in game one against France. It is 2-1 to come against Sweden in game two and 5-1 in gamethree against Ukraine. None of the above is 7-2.
With no captain named at the Wembley unveiling press conference, but plenty of smiles at questions over his choice of leader, Steven Gerrard is 6-4 favourite with Coral to be named skipper against France. Coral also go 2-1 Scott Parker and 7-2 Joe Hart. BetVictor though make Parker their 10-11 favourite (Gerrard 11-8) while Paddy Power are 9-1 about Hart. All other players quoted by the firms are double figure-prices.
However, Hodgson did confirm that he would pick Wayne Rooney - if he was not injured in the meantime - even though he is banned for the first two games. And Rooney is a 5-1 favourite with BetVictor and Coral in the available top England Euros goalscorer betting.
England are 15-8 with Ladbrokes to be eliminated at the group stage this summer, 9-4 with Betfred to go out in the quarter-finals, 5-1 with bet365 to reach the last-four and then exit and 9-1 with Betfred to be runners-up. They are 16-1 with BetVictor and Hills to be the best boys in Brazil in 2014.
