Defeated Khan 2-5 to win a Garcia rematch

AMIR KHAN is a 2-5 shot with Hills to win a rematch with Danny Garcia after Saturday night’s surprise defeat.

Khan had been a 1-5 shot to win that bout but was knocked down in the third round and twice more in the fourth before referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight.

Hills go 11-10 that there is a rematch this year and both fighters appeared to be in favour – "He gave me the opportunity (so) I’ll give him the opportunity,” said Garcia – but the American fighter’s father said there should be no rematch as Khan had “disrespected” his son.

The unexpected result brought relief for bookmakers, who had earlier seen favourite 1-3 David Haye defeat Dereck Chisora.

“Khan was a hot favourite to beat Garcia, and the Haye/Khan double was all the rage, so the American’s surprise success has come to our rescue,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

Ladbrokes make a contest between Haye and Vitali Klitschko this year a 7-4 chance to take place while Coral have cut Haye from 7-2 to 11-4 to beat the Ukrainian. The firm are also betting on Khan’s next opponent and make Lamont Peterson, to whom he lost on points in December, their 3-1 favourite.

Coral – world heavyweight title fight: 2-7 Vitali Klitschko v 11-4 Haye, 25 draw.

Hills – to fight before the end of 2012 (not to): 11-10 Khan v Garcia (4-6), 6-4 Khan v Mayweather (1-2), 9-4 Haye v Price (1-3), 10-3 Haye v Fury (1-5); potential fights: 2-5 Khan v 7-4 Garcia, 25 draw; 9-2 Khan v 1-8 Floyd Mayweather, 33 draw.

Ladbrokes – Khan’s next opponent: 3 Lamont Peterson, 4 Paulie Malignaggi, 8 Kell Brook, Victor Ortiz, 10 Juan Manuel Marquez, 12 Brandon Rios, 14 Manny Pacquiao, 16 bar; Haye to fight Vitali Klitschko before January 1 2014: 2-5 no, 7-4 yes.
