City new favourites for Premier League

MANCHESTER CITY are the new 1-2 favourites to win the Premier League after they beat fierce rivals Manchester United 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

A first-half Vincent Kompany goal was all that separated the sides in Monday night's tense encounter and the Red Devils, 1-2 favourites to retain the title before the match started, are out to 2-1 to do so.

The sides are level on 83 points but City have an eight-goal advantage on goal difference and it is 7-4 with bet365 that the title is settled by that method. Bet Victor make City 7-4 to triumph on goal difference and offer 100-1 about holders United doing so.

Ladbrokes offer 6-4 that City win next season's Premier League, with United available at 5-2. Kompany had been 40-1 to score the first goal, while the 1-0 correct score had been available at 19-2.

Sporting Index called the result "fantastic news" with the spread firm delighted with the low shirts make-up of four, but Betfred were less than pleased. The firm have already paid out on United to win the league – when the Red Devils were eight points clear – and boss Fred Done said: “I hold my hands up and at the moment it looks like I’ve got it wrong.

"However there’s still two games left and I wouldn’tbe a bookie if 2-5 chances didn’t get beat.”

Paddy Power offer 13-10 about City dropping points at Newcastle and go 12-1 that Mancini's men win in the Toon but then lose title on the last day when hosting QPR.

They have also chalked up a market on the total number of points the Red Devils claim from their two remaining games.

A full house of six is the 5-6 favourite. Then it is 9-4 four, 5-1 three, 20-1 two, 22-1 one and 50-1 none.
