Celtic 1-33 to win SPL after Gers are rejected

CELTIC are 1-33 with Ladbrokes to win a Rangers-less Scottish Premier League this season after the Scottish top flight clubs voted overwhelmingly to reject newco Rangers' application to join them on Wednesday afternoon.

Hearts, Motherwell and Dundee United are next in Ladbrokes' win only list at 25-1 and they are followed by Aberdeen and Hibs at 80-1.

Where newco Rangers, the club formed by Charles Green following the liquidation of the Gers last month, start the new campaign and who will replace them - relegated Dunfermline or Dundee, who finished second in the First Division - are matters still to be decided though with Scottish Football League clubs set to meet again on Thursday July 12.

Before Wednesday's meeting at Hampden Park, SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: "There are probably three options for dealing with Rangers. Rangers coming into the SPL with an appropriate range of sanctions is one option. Rangers going into the second tier is another option.

"The option that a lot of people have talked about, Rangers in the fourth tier, ultimately that would wreak huge financial damage on the whole game and it's difficult to see why 41 innocent clubs should pay the price for the misdeeds of one.

"So I think there are really two viable options that are in play at the moment."
