Dai Greene is Great Britain's Olympics athletics captain
Captain Greene cut to carry the flag in London
DAI GREENE has been slashed to be named as Team GB's flag bearer at the London Olympics by Ladbrokes after being named the team's athletics captain.
The Welsh 400m hurdler is now chalked up at 10-1 fourth favourite to carry out the prestigious role.
The market is headed by star cyclist Sir Chris Hoy at 7-4 with swimmer Rebecca Adlington 5-1 and sailing ace Ben Ainslie 8-1.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "There's probably a few athletes who eye Greene with envy. His captaincy speaks volumes of the high hopes and expectations of Team GB."
Greene is 9-2 to win gold this summer, reflecting the current world and Commonwealth champion's status as one of Team GB's most likely medal winners.
Greene has also been cut from 33-1 to 20-1 to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
