Romance isn't everyone's cup of tea

WHAT a week it's been for shocks.

First there was Reading, 1-500 to progress to the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup when 4-0 up on Arsenal, somehow managing to lose 7-5.
 
Then David Beckham woke up on Hallowe'en to find he was lying next to a skeleton.
 
So isn't it apt that this week ends in the first round of the FA Cup?
 
No, actually, it isn't. Anyone with even the faintest grasp of reality knows that the romance of the cup died some time ago along with my belief in Father Christmas and shocks will no doubt be kept to a minimum.
 
I'll be keeping it simple and keeping faith in MK Dons to batter Cambridge City in the first round on Friday.

There are 101 places between these teams on the football ladder as Cambridge languish in 16th in the Southern Premier, and they only needed to beat Totton, who are struggling in the same division, to make it this far.

If they can concede four against Chippenham and five at home to St Neots - among 33 they've shipped in the league - they could be taken to the cleaners by the Dons.

Take it from me. The only romance of the cup on Friday will come when I bring Mrs Bunter her morning tea in bed.
