Bell binned for ODI series

AFTER a 3-0 Test drubbing at the hands of Pakistan, England will be
seeking to restore some pride when the one-day series starts in Abu
Dhabi on Monday.

The tourists, who are 11-4 to win the four-ODI series, named a 16-man squad yesterday which included Somerset’s exciting young batsman Jos Buttler and left-arm spinner Danny Briggs of Hampshire.

There was no place for Ian Bell, however, after his woes against Pakistan’s spinners in the Test series.

Buttler is yet to play an ODI for England but he has featured in four
Twenty20 internationals and is 17-2 with bet365 to be England’s top runscorer in the series.

Kevin Pietersen is likely to open the batting, as he did at last
year’s World Cup, and he is a stand-out 4-1 with Ladbrokes to top
England’s runscoring charts.

Briggs is 10-1 with Ladbrokes to take the most series wickets for the
tourists – fellow spinner Graeme Swann is 7-2 favourite.

Pakistan are 11-8 to win the one-day series and the draw is 15-8.
