AVB hints Modric may be sold on at right price

TOTTENHAM manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted Luka Modric will be sold if the price is right and it seems that Real Madrid are the most likely to secure the midfielder’s services.

AVB hinted that the Croatian will be allowed to leave if a deal suits all parties and Real have been linked with a move for the Euro 2012 star since the end of last season.

The Spanish champions are 1-6 with BetVictor to sign Modric this summer, while Manchester United are 8-1 chances.

Nottingham Forest have attracted significant support in the Championship title betting since the start of the summer and that is likely to continue after yesterday’s confirmation that the Kuwaiti Al-Hasawi family have taken control of the club.

The new owners have planned a press conference for Saturday but there has already been talk of significant investment and it has been backed up by a statement yesterday which spoke of bringing the club ‘back to its glory days’.

By last night Forest were a best-priced 14-1 in the Championship betting – they had been 28-1 at the end of last season and 20-1 at the start of July.

New signings can be expected as Forest look to improve dramatically on last season’s 19th-place finish but it is unclear whether current manager Steve Cotterill will remain at the helm.

Premier League new boys West Ham have been linked with a move for Liverpool striker Andy Carroll but could still face competition from Milan.

The Hammers and the Rossoneri are 11-4 joint favourites in Hills’ betting on Carroll’s next club, while Newcastle are 8-1.
