POKER legend Doyle Brunson, two World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event finalists and former England footballer Terry Sheringham are among 36 players still competing for the WSOP (Europe) Main Event.
By the end of day three of the £10,000 highlight taking place at The Casino at The Empire in Leicester Square the chip leader was Matt Hawrilenko, from Boston, MA.
Hawrilenko won more than $1 million for first place in $5,000 buy-in Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em tournament in the WSOP in Vegas this summer and now has a slight chip advantage as players prepare to enter day four.
Hawrilenko (27) is also known as "Hoss-TBF"and is a Princeton graduate with a degree in Public Policy Administration.
Two players who made it to the final table at this year's WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas are still alive in London.
Everest Poker-sponsored Antoine Saout and James Akenhead - remain in the top 36 and have reached the money. France's Saout is currently ranked 24th in chips. England's Akenhead is ranked 30th in chips.
Doyle Brunson could win a record-equalling 11th WSOP gold bracelet if he succeeds in London.
The player, known to the poker world as "Dolly," will start day four with about an average-sized stack of 246,500. The Texan has now made it into the money in the WSOP Europe Main Event, proving yet again that he hasn't lost a step after sixty years in the game.
Former England and Manchester United footballer Teddy Sheringham is hoping to become a two-sport champion. The 43-year-old currently has 272,000 in chips, - about average for this stage of the tournament.
The WSOP Europe Main Event continues play at noon on Wednesday - it will last until the final table (nine players) is reached.
