Mick's love affair with Ascot set to continue
YOUNG MICK is likely to head back to Ascot at the end of the month for either the Marchpole Handicap or the Group 3 Grosvenor Casinos Cumberland Lodge Stakes as a prelude to his departure to Dubai to prepare for next year's carnival.
The George Margarson-trained six-year-old performed below his best when ninth of 12 to Hattan in the September Stakes at Kempton last weekend, and will have an easy week before resuming full work.
Margarson said: "Afterall the rain the all-weather was riding really fast and we checked his blood when he came back and it was a bit cloudy. We have put him on a course of antibiotics and we will work him again in about five or six days' time.
"He will be entered in the Cumberland Lodge but it more likely to go for the mile and a half handicap the same afternoon (Sunday, September 28)."
Margarson added: "He will have a rest after that, and the plan is to go out to Dubai as early as possible and give him time to acclimatise. We are hoping to take him out towards the end of November and there are four or five races at the carnival in which he could run."
