Dry forecast for day two of Dante meeting
AFTER 18mm of rain fell on Wednesday, a dry night and even a spot of sunshine was forecast for day two of the Dante meeting at York.
The going changed to good to soft, good in places from good to firm on day one of the fixture, but fears of seriously testing conditions were not realised, with most riders happy to call the ground on the slow side of good.
Temperatures could hit 14C on Thursday, although some showers may also arrive, and assistant clerk of the course Anthea Morshead said after racing on Wednesday: "The forecast is dry and it will be the best day of the three tomorrow.
"We could catch a passing shower but the ground is just on the slow side of good, so there's not too much difference between the good to soft areas and the good areas."
She added: "Paul Hanagan, Eddie Ahern and other jockeys said it was just on the slow side and that they were happy with the ground."
