King's Warrior stretches clear of his rivals for a shock victory at York

THE Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained King's Warrior ran out the easy winner of one of the most competitive handicaps of the season under Rab Havlin.

However, favourite backers were left cursing their luck when Mijhaar clipped heels when about to deliver his challenge two furlongs out, losing all chance in the process.
Fair Trade and Stand To Reason helped set a strong gallop and it looked anybody's race as the field approached the two-furlong marker.
Well-backed contenders Area Fifty One and Media Hype both held every chance, while Godolphin's Alkimos delivered a promising looking challenge on the stands' side. However, it was the 33-1 shot King's Warrior who came clear, with Mid Mon Lady finishing second and Media Hype third.
Winning jockey Havlin said: "I think it's the ground [that made the difference] - his last two runs were on fast ground. Peter said his work's been good and he's never far wrong."
He added: "I think I'm the only jockey who agrees with having all these big meetings on the same day - it suits me anyway!"
