Queen of Cagnes out to maintain perfect record

Preview: France, Sunday (2.55pm GMT)

Cagnes-sur-Mer:Grand Prix de la Ville de Nice (Group 3 Chase) 2m7f, 5yo+

WUTZELINE (Yannick Fertillet/Hubert Terrien) bids to extend one of the most remarkable records in French racing in the highlight of the Cagnes jumps season.

The eight-year-old mare is unbeaten in no fewer than 13 starts at the Riviera track, including this race in 2009 and 2011.

Having warmed up with a couple of runs over hurdles in early December, Wutzeline had two lengthsin hand over Tomeho (Laurent Viel/David Berra) in the traditional trial, the Prix du Comte de Nice.

"She's very well and she's come forward for her run last time," said Fertillet on Friday. "It's difficult to say exactly why Cagnes suits her so well, but it's certainly her track and she has always been very strong around there."

Among her familiar rivals in the seven-runner starting line-up is Roi Du Val (Jean-Paul Gallorini/Gaetan Masure), who has been campaigned in top class hurdle races since finishing fourth in the Grand Prix 12 months ago.

During that time Roi Du Val accounted for the Willie Mullins-trained Thousand Stars in the Prix La Barka at Auteuil and, if able to transfer that ability on his return to chasing, the ten-year-old will pose a significant threat to Wutzeline.

Francois-Marie Cottin has been one of the form trainers at Cagnes this winter and is represented by Frolon (Alexis Acker) and Royal Palois (Jonathan Plouganou).
