Wincanton on but Rasen and Leicester fall to cold
WINCANTON is the sole surviving jumps meeting in Britain on Thursday after Market Rasen and Leicester were called off due to the freezing conditions.
There was 8am inspections at all three courses on Thursday and Market Rasen was first to fall with temperatures dipping to -5C and not rising fast enough.
Second checks were called at Wincanton and Leicester and while conditions were good enough for racing to go ahead at the Wincanton, conditions were not improving fast enough for racing to be on at Leicester.
Racing is also scheduled to take place at Lingfield on the all-weather and over jumps at Clonmel in Ireland where no problems were reported.
