Fayd'Herbe settled the 7-5 favourite just behind the leaders before unleashing him a furlong and a half out to beat Delago Deluxe by a comfortable two and three-quarter lengths with Snowdon the same distance away third. The time was only 0.31 seconds outside J J The Jet Plane's course record.
Bass said: "He is back to his best and this is what he should have been doing all the time. I don't know what happened in his last two runs - I can't explain them - but it was my fault and I can only apologise.
"Six and seven furlongs are his best trips but I am not sure what happens next. Some farms want to stand him at stud and I will discuss this with the owners. However I feel that I can probably get him to win a couple more Group 1s and I would like him to go another season."
The four-year-old is by former champion sire Western Winter out of the Irish bred Ahonoora mare Waseela, closely related to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Wassl.
