Weather delays Costello return from knee injury
DOUGIE COSTELLO, who damaged ligaments in his knee in a fall at Wetherby last month, has resumed riding and hopes to be ready to return to action once the cold snap relents.

Costello, who has ridden 23 winners and was well on his way to a personal best this season, received another positive report from surgeon Jonathan Lavelle on Wednesday but so far his riding activity has been limited to sessions in trainer John Quinn's indoor school because of the weather.
"I started riding out last Thursday," said Costello. "We have an indoor school so I ride two lots round there. I went to London yesterday to see Jonathan Lavelle and he was very pleased with my knee.
"If I can build up the strength, which I have been doing with regular physio, then by the time the snow goes I should be fit to resume.
"We are looking at ten daysfrom now or whenever we can find a break in the weather. It is strong enough to ride out but I will know more once I start schooling horses and working a few. It is going the right way."
