Waterlogged Chepstow calls Thursday inspection
CHEPSTOW will inspect on Thursday at 8.30am for its meeting on Friday, with the course waterlogged after 48 mm of rain fell in the last 24 hours.
Speaking on Tuesday, clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: "Wehave had a significant amount of rainfall since yesterday morning, forty eight millimetres.
"Given that amount of rain we wouldn't be able to race tomorrow [Wednesday] and we wouldn't expect enough improvement to hold an inspection then either.
"Therefore we will have one Thursday morning. If there is little or no further rain we would be very hopeful, but there is quite a long way to go and we don't want any further rain."
The forecast is for one to two millimetres of rain on Wednesday, with a band on Wednesday night into Thursday morning that could bring five to six millimetres.
