Walsh will miss Big Buck's showdown

RUBY WALSH will not ride against Big Buck's, whom he has partnered to win four Ladbrokes World Hurdles, in Saturday's Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Walsh will be on duty at Doncaster to ride the exciting Annie Power in a Grade 2 mares' hurdle. The time of that race was brought forward at trainer Willie Mullins' request to allow Walsh to travel to Cheltenham to ride Boston Bob in the Cleeve.

Despite Annie Power's race switching to 2.05 from 2.40, Walsh said on Thursday: "Time-wise it's too tight. I'll just ride Annie Power at Doncaster."

Barry Geraghty will partner Boston Bob in the Cleeve, which is due off at 3.35. He will also be on Rathvinden for Ireland's champion trainer in the Grade 2 Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle.

Big Buck's, who will be ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies when he has his first outing for more than a year in the Cleeve, had a brilliant relationship with Walsh - 18 wins from 19 starts - and it would have been intriguing to see how the jockey would have attempted to defeat one of the best horses he has ridden.
