Midnight Game has no problem in Thurles win
Report: Thurles, Sunday
Horse and Jockey Hotel Hurdle (Listed) 2m, 4yo+
MIDNIGHT GAME had no problem giving chunks of weight to his three rivals as he made it two wins from two starts this season.
The five-year-old was racing under a treble penalty following his Fairyhouse romp last time but he was made to work a bit harder this time as Joxer got to within a length of him at the line.
Arnaud, like Midnight Game racing in the colours of Gigginstown House Stud, cut out much of the running with the 4-7 favourite tracking him until taking it up three out.
Joxer was driven to close two out and although he attempted to lay down a challenge on the run in, it was always comfortable enough for Midnight Game.
Winning trainer Willie Mullins said: “He's confirmed the improvement he showed last time. We will look for a similar race to this next time and then step him up the ladder gradually.”
This was the second successive year that Mullins has won this race having been successful with So Young last year and it brought up a double on the day for Davy Russell who had taken the previous race on Whiskey And Red.
