Voy Por team consider new Warwick race

VOY POR USTEDES, whose connections believe he is a markedly better horse going left-handed, could test that theory this Sunday by tackling the Totesport.com Chase, a newly-instigated race to be staged over 3m1/2f at Warwick.

The Alan King-trained eight-year-old made several errors when third, racing right-handed, at Ascot on his seasonal reappearance on November 21 and, although this weekend's contest comes quite quickly, it is being considered due to a lack of alternatives.

Barry Simpson, racing manager to owner Sir Robert Ogden, said on Monday: "Ideally, we would like to run him next over two and a half miles, but there aren't any suitable options, so we've entered him at Warwick and will decide about his participation later in the week."

Simpson added: "Whether he goes will depend on how he works and how Alan feels he has recovered from Ascot, but it's a possibility because at least it would allow him to race to his left, which is what he prefers."

Voy Por Ustedes is one of 19 entries, along with Our Vic, Cloudy Lane and a trio of Paul Nicholls-trained horses, Inchidaly Rock, My Will and The Tother One.

Warwick developed the idea for the £40,000 event after losing two of its important jumps fixtures in January and February.

Clerk of the course Andrew Morris said: "We settled on the race conditions about a month ago, having discovered we had some funding available following the loss of the two meetings earlier in the year."

Morris added: "The ground is soft, with a few good to soft places, and, as the weather forecast for the rest of this week is encouraging, we're looking forward to a tremendous race with a high-quality field."
