Vision D'Etat could miss the Dubai World Cup

VISION D'ETAT, the French-trained favourite for Saturday's Dubai World Cup in some British bookmakers' lists, could miss the world's richest race at Meydan.

The five-year-old, who won in Hong Kong on his most recent start in December, will have to pass a veterinary test on Saturday morning to determine his fitness to run, after Emirates Racing Authority officials were called to examine him on Friday morning. Details of the cause for concern have notbeen revealed.

The Eric Libaud-trained five-year-old has recorded four career victories at the highest level, three of which came last year.

Owned by Jacques Detre, Vision D'Etat defeated the likes of Tartan Bearerand fellow World Cup contender Twice Over in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

The son of Chichicastenango rounded off a successful campaign with victory over a high-class field in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin in December.
