Buccellati only fourth as home team strike

REPORT: TURKEY, Sunday
Veliefendi: Bosphorus Cup (Group 2) 1m 4f

THE home team on Sunday night continued their domination of the inaugural Turkish International Racing Festival at Veliefendi in Istanbul, with the Andrew Balding-trained Buccellati faring best of the three British raiders by finishing fourth in the £340,000 Bosphorus Cup.

Victory went to the 2007 Turkish Derby winner Inspector, ridden by Shergar Cup-winning jockey Halis Karatas.
A 2-1 chance, he beat the front-running Out Of Control by two and a half lengths, with the German hope, Dickens, staying on well late to take third.

Buccellati was beaten four and a half lengths, while the Mark Johnston-trained Love Galore was fifth and the Saeed Bin Suroor-trained odds-on favourite Gravitas sixth of the seven runners.
