Uttoxeter to inspect at 8am on Saturday

OFFICIALS at Uttoxeter are hopeful the track's meeting on Saturday will go ahead as planned despite calling an 8am inspection on the day of racing.

A threat of overnight frost forced clerk of the course Charlie Moore to take action and call the inspection on Friday.

"The course is in good condition and all the landings, take-offs and crossing have been covered with frost protection," said Moore.

"But it is forecast to drop to -1C or -2C, possibly even -3C, overnight and I thought it was only sensible to make all interested parties - be it owners, trainers, jockeys or racegoers - aware of what was happening.

"I'd say I am 85-15 in favour of racing going ahead. I'm very hopeful."

Uttoxeter's seven-race card is due to start at 1.05pm and the going is heavy.
