Turf run for Radiohead and not Kentucky Derby

RADIOHEAD looks almost certain not to run in the Kentucky Derby on May 1 after connections revealed plans to run him on turf at Churchill Downs the day before.

Winner of last year's Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot when trained by Brian Meehan, Radiohead was an impressive scorer in allowance company on his dirt debut for new trainer Rick Dutrow but blew out in the Grade 1 Florida Derby on his next start.

According to the website of Radiohead' s majority owners IEAH stable: "Radiohead could be pointed for the Grade 2, $175,000 American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs on Friday, April 30. The race will be run at 1 1/16 miles on the turf."

However,Dutrow is likely to be represented in the Kentucky Derby by Homeboykris, who finished behind Radiohead in the allowance race at Gulfstream Park.
