Plum Pretty blooms in Apple Blossom time

Report: USA, Friday

Oaklawn Park: Apple Blossom Hcap (Grade 1) 1m½f, dirt, 4yo+ f/m

IN the absence of Havre De Grace, re-routed to the La Troienne on Kentucky Oaks day, last year's Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty (Bob Baffert/Rafael Bejarano) easily accounted for a small field.

Making her seasonal debut, she was sent off 1-2 favourite for this $500,000 contest before scoring by 2¼ lengths over Absinthe Minded.

Also on Friday

Keeneland: Maker's 46 Mile (Grade 1) 1m, turf, 4yo+

A SURPRISE result here in a substandard event for the level as outsider Data Link (Shug McGaughey/Alex Solis) came from off the pace to nab 7-5 favourite Turallure on the line by a neck.

Although this was the fifth win of the four-year-old's career, he had never before won a graded stakes of any kind, let alone a Grade 1 event.

Last year's winner Get Stormy gave waytamely in the stretch as Turallure took over with what looked a winning move until Data Link grabbed him with a well-timed challenge.
