Ninth win for unbeaten Awesome Feather

Report: USA, Saturday

Gulfstream Park: Florida Sunshine Millions Distaff (ungraded) 1m1f, dirt, 4yo+ f/m

UNBEATEN filly Awesome Feather (Chad Brown/Jeffrey Sanchez) took her winning streak to nine at Gulfstream Park on Saturday with a runaway victory in the Florida Sunshine Millions Distaff.

The four-year-old, who missed most of last season with a tendon injury, scored by 5¾ lengths in the 1m1f event, restricted to Florida-breds and therefore ineligible for graded status.

Awesome Feather was sold for $2.3 million to Gulfstream owner Frank Stronach at the Fasig-Tipton November sale in 2010 following her victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.

On Saturday she tracked front-running Tiz The Argument before taking control at the far turn and then drawing away to take the $300,000 contest.

Gulfstream Park: Sunshine Millions Classic 1m1f, dirt, 4yo+

Official highlight of the six-race Sunshine Millions series was the $400,000 Classic where last year's Kentucky Derby third Mucho Macho Man (Kathy Ritvo/Ramon Dominguez) regained the winning thread as the 21-10 second favourite.

Having sat just outside the speed, the four-year-old established a clear lead in the stretch, having enough in hand to beat late-running Ron The Greek by one and a half lengths. The winner stopped the clock at 1m47.91s.

Santa Anita: Santa Monica Stakes (Grade 1) 7f, dirt, 4yo+ f/m

Home Sweet Aspen (John Sadler/Joel Rosario) was always prominent before holding off Sugarinthemorning for a determined neck victory in this $300,000 contest. The four-year-old, who was headed briefly in the stretch, had never before won a graded stakes of any kind.

Santa Anita: Santa Ysabel Stakes (Grade 3) 1m1/2f, dirt, 3yo fillies

Willa B Awesome (Walther Solis/Martin Pedroza) made all before pulling away in the stretch for an 11-1 upset in this stepping stone to the Santa Anita Oaks on March 31. Hollywood Starlet winner Killer Graces took second more than three lengths back behind the winner, the longest-priced runner in the five-runner field.
