DIAMOND GEEZAH (Mike Mitchell/Joe Talamo), a winner for Barry Hills at Ayr last year, makes his debut for his new US connections on Thursday at Santa Anita.

The son of Diamond Green was last seen in Britain when last of three behind Classic favourite Frankel in a conditions race at the St Leger meeting.

Diamond Geezah, who ran eight times for Hills last term, faces five rivals in a $80,000 allowance race over 61/2f on the downhill turf course at Santa Anita.

Coincidentally, he faces an old foe in former Wesley Ward-trained Metropolitan Man, one place behind him when they were eighth and ninth in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

According to the Daily Racing Form, Diamond Geezah was one of four horses purchased at Tattersalls in the autumn to be trained by Californian-based Mike Mitchell.

Fellow trainer Jamie Lloyd, who hss enjoyed plenty of success in his role as a bloodstock agent, was instrumental in the purchases.

Lloyd's previous successes include former Ed Vaughan-trained St Trinians, whom Mitchell to score in Grade 2 company before giving Zenyatta a fright at Hollywood Park last June, and multiple graded-stake winner Battle Of Hastings, initially with Michael Bell.
